28 YEARS AGO: Billy Idol Cancels Sold-Out Show Due To Asbestos

28 years ago today on June 2nd 1987, a sold-out Billy Idol concert set to take place at Madison Square Garden was canceled after it was discovered that MSG had asbestos being removed. Vice President of MSG Jack Loftus said that the asbestos was in the ceiling and not in the air, but Billy didn’t want to take any chances. Fans got a full refund and the show was never rescheduled.
