Cubs finally forgive Steve Bartman, with a 2016 World Series ring
The Chicago Cubs gave former disgraced fan Steve Bartman a 2016 World Series ring with his name on it. He’s the fan who was unfairly blamed for the Cubs’ playoff collapse 14 years ago, when he reached for a foul ball, preventing a CUBS player from catching it.
This guy, after it happened, immediately disappeared from public life. He got death threats too. He never gave interviews or made any attempt to acknowledge the situation either.
Steve accepted it, and said, he wanted it to be a symbol for “how we should treat each other in today’s society.”
