Disney has pulled Olaf ‘short’ after complaints from cinemagoers

With no major releases hitting theaters this weekend, Pixar’s “Coco” had no trouble holding onto the top spot at the box office.  It took in another $26.1 million.  “Justice League” came in second, with $16.6 million.  Third was “Wonder”, $12.5 million.

But “Coco’s” success may have been soured  because many people complained about the “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” short that’s playing before Pixar’s “Coco”, that Disney is removing it from theaters.  The main complaints were that it was too long, and it felt like shameless self-promotion for “Frozen 2”.

The main complaint with “Olaf” is the running time.  When you add in the trailers, “Coco” wasn’t starting until 40 minutes after the announced run time.  That’s more than enough time for kids to get antsy, and THEN they have to sit through the movie.

Plus, Pixar movies are usually preceded by an original PIXAR short.  “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” just struck a lot of people as shameless promotion for another Disney franchise.
