Demi Lovato’s mom, Dianna De La Garza, is speaking publicly for the first time about Demi’s overdose back in July. In an interview with Newsmax TV, Dianna recalls the moment she found out what happened and how she rushed the hospital with Demi’s sisters, Dallas and Madison.

“We got there as quickly as we could,” she says. “Dallas and Madison and I jumped out of the car at the emergency room and ran into the emergency room to be by her side. She just didn’t look good at all. She was in bad shape. But I said to her, ‘Demi, I’m here. I love you.’ And at that point she said back to me, ‘I love you, too.’”

Dianna credits her faith, as well as the millions of prayers from Demi’s fans, with helping her family get through the difficult time.

“I think that was one of things that got me through the next couple of days when she was in critical condition,” she says. “We just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not.”

But now, Dianna says, Demi is doing “really well” and is “happy” and “healthy.”

“She’s working on her sobriety, and she’s getting the help she needs,” she adds. “That in itself encourages me about her future and about the future of our family.”

Dianna, who said she appeared on the show with Demi’s blessing, concluded by talking about the country’s opioid crisis and vowing to do whatever she can to bring awareness to the epidemic.

Lovato, 26, remained in the hospital for more than a week before she was released on August 4th to enter an in-patient treatment facility.
